Two years after completing the construction of their specialised production facility in Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, Emirates Fish Farms has completed the initial grow out of Hamour stocks with average weights of 2.2 kgs.
Emirates Fish Farms has responsibly sourced broodstock from approved fishing areas in the Arabian Gulf raised at the Sheikh Khalifa Marine Research Centre and Abu Al Abyad hatcheries.
Fingerlings from these local UAE Hamour broodstock have been sustainably produced in a 120-tonne recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) production facility. The facility has the ability to produce in excess of 2,000 kg of premium Hamour on a weekly basis, year round without seasonal interruption.
Emirates Fish Farms are proud to be the first aquaculture facility in the UAE to be certified by the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA) after being recognised as meeting the globally recognised Best Aquaculture Practice (BAP) standards for fin fish hatcheries, nurseries, (production) farms and processing.
